What Solana Staking Actually Does
Staking SOL means assigning the voting power of your tokens to a validator that helps process transactions and keep Solana working. In return, the network distributes rewards. With native staking, your SOL remains in a stake account controlled by your wallet. The validator cannot spend it, withdraw it, or see your seed phrase.
This guide uses Capital Alliance as the validator and covers three popular wallets: Phantom, Solflare, and Trust Wallet. Wallet screens can change slightly over time, but the underlying flow is the same: choose SOL, open staking, select a validator, enter an amount, review, and approve.
Before You Start
- Use the official version of your wallet and install updates from its official app store or website.
- Make sure your wallet contains SOL that is available, not already locked in another stake account.
- Leave a small amount of SOL unstaked for network transaction fees.
- Never type your seed phrase into a staking website, chat, form, or support message.
- Confirm that the validator shown in the approval screen is Capital Alliance before signing.
Good to know: staking rewards vary with network conditions and validator performance. For a current estimate, see the APY shown on our homepage.
Option 1: Stake Directly on Capital Alliance
- Open the staking section on the Capital Alliance homepage.
- Connect your supported Solana wallet and verify the wallet address displayed.
- Enter the amount of SOL you want to delegate.
- Review the validator, amount, and wallet transaction prompt.
- Approve the transaction in your wallet. Wait for network confirmation before closing the wallet prompt.
The transaction creates the native staking instructions on Solana. Capital Alliance never takes custody of your tokens. After confirmation, you can use My Rewards to check the position as snapshot data becomes available.
How to Stake with Phantom
- Open Phantom, select your Solana account, and choose the option to start earning SOL.
- Choose native staking (direct delegation to a validator).
- Search for Capital Alliance in the validator list.
- Enter the amount to stake while leaving enough SOL available for fees.
- Review the transaction details and approve them inside Phantom.
Phantom will show a stake position after the transaction confirms. A “starting,” “activating,” or similar status is normal until activation progresses at an epoch boundary.
How to Stake with Solflare
- Open Solflare and select the staking area for your SOL balance.
- Choose to create a new native stake account or start staking.
- Find and select Capital Alliance as the validator.
- Enter the SOL amount, review the expected transaction, and confirm.
- Return to the staking area to monitor activation and later rewards.
If you already have multiple stake accounts, check the amount and validator on each one before making changes. Separate stake accounts can activate, deactivate, and be redelegated independently.
How to Stake with Trust Wallet
- Open Trust Wallet, choose SOL, and open its staking controls.
- Select the delegation or stake action.
- Choose Capital Alliance from the validator selector.
- Enter the amount and verify that the wallet still retains SOL for fees.
- Approve the transaction and wait for its on-chain confirmation.
Mobile deep links should always open the installed wallet for final approval. Reject any flow that asks for your seed phrase in a browser. A legitimate delegation only requires a normal transaction signature in your wallet.
What Happens After You Approve
Confirmation and activation are different stages. The transaction can confirm quickly while the stake remains activating until an epoch transition. Once active, it participates in validator delegation and becomes eligible for rewards. Rewards are distributed by the protocol and compound into the stake account.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much SOL do I need to start staking?
Solana native staking has no universal high minimum. Keep a small amount of unstaked SOL in your wallet to pay network transaction fees, then delegate an amount that fits your own risk and liquidity needs.
Does staking transfer my SOL to Capital Alliance?
No. Native delegation creates or uses a stake account controlled by your wallet. Capital Alliance receives voting power, not permission to spend or withdraw your SOL.
When will my stake begin earning rewards?
A new delegation normally activates around an epoch boundary. The exact wait depends on when you submit the transaction and network activation rules, so rewards do not begin instantly.
Can I add more SOL later?
Yes. Depending on your wallet, you can add to an existing stake position or create another stake account and delegate it to the same validator.
